Save an Eye Game to be Remembered in a Book
On Friday, July 26th, 2013 the Erie Lions Club will stage the 75th Anniversary of the Save an Eye All-Star Football Game, making it one of Erie's oldest and premier sporting events and esteemed charities. In order to recognize this extraordinary achievement, the Erie Lions Club will publish a book of game memories tracing the game from the initial 1939 game to the 75th Anniversary Game.
The Erie Lions Club is reaching out to ALL past players or their family members, coaches, referees and anybody else with a connection to the Save an Eye game to share game memories, photographs, game jerseys, ticket stubs or programs, news clippings, or anything of possible interest that may become incorporated in the book. Almost 5,000 young men have played in the Save an Eye Game since the first game in 1939. We know there is a lot of "stuff" out there!
On Saturday, January 26th, The Erie Lions Club will
host the second open house at the Sight Center of Northwest Pennsylvania, 2545
West 26th St.
from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Committee
members will be present to copy or scan data, take photographs and digitally
record game memories from any person attending. Enter off Crescent Drive. The event is free and open to any members of the
public who wish to celebrate and share their game memories. Memorabilia
will be returned to its owner on site. Members of the press are invited

Those not able to attend the open house may call the Erie Lions Club at the Sight Center of Northwest Pennsylvania at 455-0995 for an individual appointment.
Since the beginning of the Save an Eye, over 14,000 Erie County children have received the private-care equivalent of $3,000,000 in eye care services, and many services for the visually impaired of our region were funded by this worthy charity.
