Fire Destroys Abandoned East Side Home

JANUARY 20, 2013- ErieCity firefighters battled a fire late this afternoon that destroyed an abandoned East side home sending neighbors in a panic and crews into action....

The fire happened just after 3:45 this Sunday afternoon.

    Five fire crews battled the blaze for well over an hour at a home on the 700 block of East 12th Street.

    The cause of the fire is unknown at this hour, but according to fire officials the high winds made it even more difficult to fight...

    Sending flames shooting through the attic and smoke billowing out into the air....

    Emergency responders reported to us that no one was injured...

    According to neighbors, the home that caught fire has been abandoned for years....

    We spoke with a couple of those neighbors.

    They say they're grateful that no one was harmed in the blaze and the flames were contained to just the abandoned home...
