Erie Insurance Arena Work Continues
JANUARY 23, 2013- The facelift for Erie Insurance Arena continues, as crews are working daily to meet an October deadline.
The primary focus and most extensive area is the West end.
A tarp currently hangs over it, but that area will include new seating and a new entry way.
Initially there were concerns about temperature inside the rink as construction continued, but fans we spoke with say it was warm inside for Wednesday's game.
This is in part to the majority of glass on the west end being phased in.
In addition, work on the concourse and concession is nearing completion.
Crews are constructing the third story boxes for fans who want an aerial view. ..
Officials say once everything is completed there will be 13 different suites and club seating will swing over into the west end.
Erie Insurance Arena will close down in May for five months to complete construction.
It will open in October 2013.
