Airport Crews Busy Clearing Runway

February 4, 2013 - Crews at the Erie International Airport are working non-stop to make sure planes can land and take off on time.

There are two to three workers out on the runway clearing the pavement but only six workers to cover all shifts.

On days like today it's nonstop work.

Crews use a snow brush truck and a snow plow to clear the runway and taxiway.

This year crews have a little more area to cover with the runway extension.

"There's another 1,900 feet that we have to take care of, but we're not doing any more as far as time frame, maybe a few minutes to clear that up," said Mark Horstman, Erie International Airport Airfield Ops.
