Police officers from 3 departments were involved in a high speed chase Sunday afternoon.
At times speeds reached in excess of 100 miles an hour.
It began around 5:45pm in Lawrence Park and continued along Buffalo Road and Saltsman Road before the driver made his way onto Interstate 86.
At one point, police were told to use deadly force if necessary.
Lawrence Park, along with Erie and Pennsylvania State Police chased the vehicle until the driver crossed the median and ended up in the shoulder of the road.
An Erie police vehicle boxed the car in so the driver could not drive away.
Police say the driver had a firearm in the car and had reportedly waved it at them.
The driver was taken to the hospital, and no officers were hurt.
Police would not comment except to say this is an ongoing investigation, and that several charges will be filed.
