Jog n Hog II Set for Presque Isle June 15

February 20, 2013-The Erie Sports Commission (ESC) is pleased to announce a partnership with the 2nd annual Stanganelli's Pepperoni Ball Jog 'n Hog, a unique race event taking place Saturday June 15, 8:30 AM at Presque Isle State Park.  Beginning at Beach 1, runners will complete a two-mile course where they will then stop to eat three or six Stanganelli's pepperoni balls and run, jog or walk back to the starting line.

The Jog 'n Hog is open to everyone 12 years and older. Participants receive a race t-shirt along with a coupon for 12 free Stanganelli's pepperoni balls (in addition to those consumed on the course).  Each pepperoni ball is made up of four ounces of dough with pepperoni slices baked into the middle.

This year's Jog 'n Hog has expanded to two divisions: the "Whole Hogger Division" for those brave enough to down six pepperoni balls at the midway point of competition while the "Half Hogger Division" involves the consumption of three pepperoni balls. Racers may also form teams of 10 or more people and receive a reduction on the entry fee.

The Jog 'n Hog is a national race series that was founded in 2011 by brothers Brian and Andrew Smith, who grew up in Erie. Each race features food that is unique to the area of the country in which each race is held. "We are extremely pleased to be teaming up with the Erie Sports Commission to help us promote this unique event to the region," said Andrew. "Our goal is to make it an annual event on Erie's sports calendar, and we are confident that our partnership with the ESC will ensure that as well as draw participants from across the United States."  ESC director Ron Sertz added, "We are proud to partner with Andrew and Brian and the Jog 'n Hog.  This event is special and unique for our community, especially since the race organizers are both natives of Erie. We hope to make it bigger and better each year."
