Proceeds raised go to one of four local non-profit organizations.
We're taking you inside one of those organizations, Community Shelter Services, for a look at what they do and who they help in our area.
They provide the local homeless population with everyday needs.
The basics we sometimes take for granted are provided, clothing, shoes, and three meals a day.
The program has three types of shelters under its care.
The first is family supportive housing.
People who need assistance can apply for an apartment in town that is under the supervision of the shelter.
Many of the tenants have jobs and pay a portion of the rent.
The second is dormatory housing.
Some of these dorms are occupied by mothers with children.
The third is the emergency shelter where people can come and stay temporarily.
It's open and staffed 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
Community Shelter Services does more than just provide a place to stay. There is also counseling.
Again, Community Shelter Services is one of the non-profit organizations benefiting from the Noteworthy contest.
