A new study suggests a Mediterranean Diet can cut your chances of heart disease.
What makes a Mediterranean Diet so heart healthy?

The results of a five year study show solid evidence that the main ingredients in a Mediterranean Diet can help make your heart healthy.
The study suggests a diet rich in olive oil, nuts, beans, fish, fruits, and vegetables are essential for cutting your chances of heart disease.

We spoke to the owner of Mediterranean restaurant Petra, Kal Darres.
He says on top of cooking with a lot of fruits and vegetables, your produce must be fresh. Added preservatives are a big no-no. And animal byproducts should be avoided too. He says cooking with olive oil is a must.

We also spoke to registered nurse Debbie DeAngelo with UPMC Hamot.
She says a Mediterranean Diet is easy to follow, because it tastes so good.

The Mediterranean Diet was tested on more than five thousand people in Spain and health experts are shocked by how effective it is.

So definitely something to look into if you want to slim down your chances of developing heart disease.
