Preparing for Severe Weather

watch video

March 5, 2013

It's National Severe Weather Preparedness Week, and knowledge can mean the difference between life and death when severe weather hits.

The Crawford County Emergency Management Agency partnered with the National Weather Service and PEMA to run a county-wide drill.

They're encouraging residents and emergency responders to act now and prepare in case severe weather strikes with little warning.

CrawfordCounty is at risk for floods, harsh winter storms, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

At 9 a.m., the 911 CallCenter in CrawfordCounty activated a county-wide tornado drill for

schools, nursing homes, chemical facilities and the general public to practice.

There are three things people can do now to prepare.

Know the risk for your area, pledge to prepare for a weather emergency, and be an example. Take a care of neighbors and pets, and teach children the preparedness plans, as well.
