March 7th, 2013

President Barack Obama brought attention to early childhood education during his state of the union address. Now Senator Bob Casey Jr. is proposing a plan for Pennsylvanians.

The Prepare All Kids Act will focus on children from low income families and children with special needs.
Right here in Erie, several organizations have already stressed the importance of early childhood education.

The Mercyhurst University Civic Institute, GECAC, and the United Way of Erie County started Erie Together back in 2009.

The organization believes strongly in preparing children for school at an early age.
Fifty percent of funding for the program will be from the state, the other fifty will be federal.
