Erie police and special Fugitive Task Force officers chased a man across Erie's eastside this morning, ending in a violent car wreck.

The police chase left eyewitnesses in shock and it started because of a case of mistaken identity.

Dozens of emergency responders arrived at the intersection of 26th St and Parade St this morning.

Fugitive Task Force members stopped 23 year old Erie resident Trahern Taylor at 23rd and East Ave because he fit the description of a man they were looking for.

Police say Taylor sped away from police, traveling throughout the eastside, and eventually ending up at 26th and parade.

Taylor knocked down a pole on Parade and 28th, smashing the front of his car, but that didn't stop him.

Eyewitnesses say Taylor continued to drive with his car totaled and then crashed into another driver.

The woman driver who Taylor hit was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Taylor was not the man who officers were looking for, but police say he ran from them because he had warrants out for his arrest from the sheriff's department.
