Twenty-one-year-old Shantai Robinson died almost a year ago after she was struck by an SUV. Her family will hold a vigil on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the intersection of E. 8th Street and the Bayfront Highway to mark the anniversary of her death.
Ella Robinson is Shante's mother. She says nothing could replace her daughter.
Shante died almost a year ago after she was hit at the intersection of E. 8th Street and the Bayfront Highway.
Police say a Chevy Blazer driven by Steven States hit Robinson as she and friends crossed the intersection against the light.
Further investigation concluded that States was speeding at the time.
He has been charged with careless driving and speeding.
But Robinson's mother says she is frustrated with the charges and wants closure, and that's one of the reasons she's planning the vigil for Thursday night.
