Erie`s former public safety director Erby Conley is in the news again.
Conley may be moving on to another position.
According to the New Jersey Express-Times, Conley is a finalist for Easton`s new police commissioner job.
Conley, as we`ve reported is suing the city, its controller and four councilmen for refusing to pay him after they cut funding for his position in the 2005 budget.
He alleges the decision was racially motivated and a violation of the civil rights act of 1964.
Other city employees who are white -- the mayor`s assistant and the manager of administration -- were still paid after their salaries had been eliminated, which is evidence of discrimination, according to the suit.
Conley is seeking damages for back pay, anticipated pay, lost of fringe benefits, as well as punitive damages..
