The Erie School District held a board meeting Wednesday night and okd a solution to the problem of where to send Roosevelt students in the fall. Most kids just got out of classes for the summer, but a new school year is little more than two months away which means plans for Roosevelt students are well under way. Roosevelt Middle School was closed down at the end of the school year because it was run down ... The district couldnt afford to fix or replace it. At Wednesday’s Erie School District board meeting, the board finalized negotiations on sending Roosevelt Middle School students to Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart is a catholic school that was also shut down with the end of the 2006/2007 school year. Erie school board director Ned Smith says he doesnt for-see any problems with working out a lease situation for the Sacred Heart building. However, not all Roosevelt students will be moved to the Sacred Heart school because it simply isnt big enough. Smith says there’s enough room for grades seven and eight but those in grade six will stay at their K though five school. The Roosevelt issue isnt the only big topic on the school boards plate... On Monday they will be finalizing their budget.
