State Budget Effects On PI Downs

watch video
One major concern for officials here locally is how the layoff of non-essential employees could affect business at Presque Isle Downs and Casino. If members of the states gaming board are laid off, the newly opened casino would be forced to close its doors. Officials at Presque Isle Downs say theyve placed that concern in the back of their minds. Officials say they know theres nothing they can do at this point to affect the state budget. They are simply proceeding as if nothing is going to change. There are nearly 800 employees at Presque Isle Downs who would be affected if the casino is forced to close down.
