It looks like another teachers strike has been avoided in our area.
A tentative agreement has been reached in Harrisburg between the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and the professors union, APSCUF.
The two sides were at the negotiation table for most of the day and night Monday.
The biggest disputes had been over pay and healthcare benefits.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m. Monday night both the APSCUF and PASSHE websites reported that a deal had been reached.
That means that state professors will not go on strike, and summer classes will proceed as scheduled at all 14 state universities, including Edinboro.
The details of the contract will be disclosed at a press conference slated for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning in Governor Ed Rendells Capitol office in Harrisburg.
