News Conference Scheduled for Wednesday in Pizza Bomber Case

The nearly 4-year old pizza bomber case may finally be solved. Federal prosecutors Wednesday held a news conference in Erie outlining charges against admitted killer, Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong. ABCNews.com is reporting that Armstrong is thought to be the pizza bomber plotter. She has been served with a federal detainer and her attorney says she will face charges including conspiracy to commit a bank robbery, bank robbery and a felony use of a firearm. Kenneth Barnes of Erie will also face the same charges. Armstrong is already serving time for fatally shooting her boyfriend in 2003. If convicted for Wells death, she faces the death penalty. The story of Brian Wells received international attention. In August of 2003, he robbed the PNC Bank branch in Summit Township before State Police stopped him and discovered his collar bomb. That bomb exploded, killing Wells at the scene. He never told police who put the bomb around his neck. Also, a federal judge Tuesday squashed a gag order requested to prevent Wednesdays news conference. Armstrongs public defender believed the news conference would prevent Armstrong from receiving a fair trial. It is unclear if any of the other persons who names have been attached to the Wells story over the past four years, will also be charged.
