Sunday marked the 33rd anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion. Pro-choice and pro-life supporters were speaking out in Erie. Every January 22nd, pro-life advocates march against the abortion ruling. The potential confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court could change the 33-year-old abortion precedent. The president of the Northwest Pennsylvania chapter of the National Organization for Women believes Alito would work to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Thirty-four states have passed laws requiring parents either to be notified or to give their consent when their underage daughters seek abortions.
