Personal safes are fireproof boxes that lock either by using a key or with a combination lock. Use them to protect valuable items, such as jewelry, money or legal documents. Freestanding safes can be placed anywhere in your home, but if they're small, they can be easily stolen. Install a wall safe to solve this dilemma. Wall safes go right inside your wall, making it impossible for a thief to steal.

Different Types of Home Safes:
Data Safe: Data safes are the only ones recommended for keeping diskettes, tapes, or CD's in safe storage. Any temperature above 125 degrees ruins electronic data items. So you can rest comfortably with those important records stored in a data safe.

1 Hour Fireproof Home Safes:  Construction: Most of these are a true composite safe. Steel wrap on the outside and lined with steel on the inside. Sandwiched between these layers is a concrete based fireproof material acting like a steel wall that gets reinforced by a concrete wall. The safe is also UL rated and listed. (UL is important. Many safes that are "factory rated" for 2 hours will only pass a 1 hour UL fire test)

Features: Usually includes bolt down hole with bolt down hardware for security against theft. Seamless body construction for longevity of the fireproof core. Dial combination or electronic keypad for easy opening.

Wall Safes: It is important to remember that wall safes get most of their security from being hidden. Most wall safes are attached to wall studs. If you want added protection to your wall safe, it is worth considering having it concreted in place. This will help in case of discovery by undesirables.

One other note, you will find with the easy to install wall safes no fireproof material. This is because the typical space where a wall safe goes is too thin. Standard wall is made with only 4 inches in depth. If you were to add 1 inch of fire material to the front door and 1 inch to the back of the wall safe, you would not have much space to store anything.

2 Hour Fireproof Office Safes: These safes are designed to be used when a 1 hour home safe is not enough but a Fire & Burglary Safe is more
than what is needed.  These Fire Safes protect valuables from the effects of a fire or extreme heat. Keep your passport, birth certificate, deeds, insurance information or any other important documents and valuables safe and secure, should the unthinkable happen.  Most models also offer easy use keypads.
