The malls are filled with holiday shoppers, but many of you may decide to stay home and shop online this season.
Before you begin your cyber-shopping, there`s some safety tips you should know first. From passwords to credit card numbers to your very own personal information, when you`re shopping online, you run the risk of making that all available for anyone to access. First thing to look for... make sure the company has an address and phone number listed on the website. If you can`t find them...don`t do business with them. Also, many websites use "Secure Sockets Layer" or SSL to encrypt the credit card information you give out. Keep an eye out for a locked padlock at the bottom of your screen to know if the technology is there. Make sure you check your credit card statements closely. If you notice any suspicious purchases, notify your credit card company immediately.
