Boro Won`t be Dragged into Smoking Ban

Residents in Wesleyville are weighing in on the controversial proposed smoking ban, and it seems the Boro is divided on the issue. Mayor E. Paul Johnson is trying to determine what action can be taken to keep smoking in public places... even if the county says no. In October, the Erie Board of Health introduced a resolution that prevents non-smokers from breathing second hand smoke. The Mayor says this ban could hurt business. Some residents feel the ban would be good for the Boro, while others think it robs them of their freedom. Erie County Council may have its first reading on this issue Tuesday.
