Ohio smokers are preparing to put the lights out in cigarettes for good at public places. The statewide smoking ban goes into effect Thursday. Voters passed the measure during the November mid-term elections. At midnight
bars, restaurants, and other public places must remove ashtrays and put up non-smoking signs. The health department has offered a number for business owners and customers to report violations. The smoking complaint hotline number is 868-559-6446. The Erie County Council could vote on a county-wide smoking ban later this month.
