Exec Vetoes Law Limiting Sheriff

Erie County Council may not get the chance to limit the Erie County sheriff`s responsibilities. Several weeks ago, county solicitor Tom Talarico was asked to research the scope of the sheriff`s duties under Pennsylvania law. A letter between councilman Fiore Leone and Talarico stated... if the sheriff`s office is performing duties and or acting beyond the parameters of the law, council should consider the possibility of reigning him in. Council members passed an ordinance to limit the sheriff`s power.... However today, county executive mark divecchio vetoed it.
