Erie Man Wants Petition Drive For Act 47

A local real estate agent says he wants to start a petition drive to have a public hearing scheduled to determine if the city of Erie should be declared financially distressed. Dennis Weed, on his blog...Erie Blogs dot com, says he has contacted the Pennsylvania Department Of Community and Economic Development center in Pittsburgh about starting a citizen based petition drive to have a public hearing on if the city should be declared distressed under the state`s Act 47 program. Weed claims he need signatures from 10 percent of the voters who voted in the last election on his petitions. Council president Ruby Jenkins-Husband says council is doing everything they can to stay out of act 47
