Just as you may be getting used to higher gas bills, it looks like your electric bill will be going up too. The Public Utilities Commission issued a ruling Thursday allowing Penelec to increase rates by 4.6%. The increase is far less than the 15 percent increase Penelec`s parent company, First Energy, had requested. However, the average customer`s bill will go up about 6 dollars a month. Penelec had been under a 20 year old rate cap that froze electric rates until 2010.
