Help for Gambling Addicts Planned

Erie`s first slots parlor is just weeks away from its grand opening. Now there are some concerns that local residents could fall prey to compulsive gambling. There are also fears that petty crime could spike as more people travel to the region. The Erie City Mission held a town hall meeting Monday night to discus those issues. Some of the panelists included the district attorney, police, and people who have suffered gambling addictions, or had love ones with the issue. Some counter-argue Presque Isle Downs will bring revenue to the region and 700 jobs. The Erie City Mission will operate a gambling addiction program with certified counselors.
