Saint Vincent Acquiring New Affiliation

An Erie hospital is hoping to become part of an Ohio-based healthcare organization. Action News 24 has learned the board of directors at Saint Vincent Health Center has approved an affiliation with Catholic Healthcare Partners out of Cincinnati. That decision was also okayed by the Sisters of Saint Joseph, who operate the hospital, and Bishop Donald Trautman. A spokesperson for Saint Vincent says the affiliation is not a purchase, buy-out, or merger. Among the benefits: improved purchasing power and better recruitment of doctors. Control of Saint Vincent will remain local... With the Sisters of Saint Joseph having a member on the Board of Catholic Healthcare Partners. And CHP having a seat on the Saint Vincent board. The move is expected to be finalized by early summer.
