Erie Firefighters Make Bold Claims

Erie firefighters are making some bold accusations, claiming that a lack of manpower may be to blame for a local woman`s death. Fifty-three year old Shelly Cacchione died last month when her home on West Front Street caught fire. Wednesday, veteran firefighter Terry Bird received a standing ovation when he addressed city council on the need for more firefighters. Bird has been fighting fires in Erie for 35 years. He says that in the case of Shelly Cacchione, had there been more men on the scene that day, Cacchione would have may have survived. Officials say a thermal imaging tool might have also been helpful too. Fire crews admit they did not take the tool with them, but that their response time was good.
