Bishop Murphy Laid to Rest
Members of the Erie Catholic Community paid their final respects to the late Bishop Michael Murphy Monday afternoon. A funeral mass was held at St. Peter`s Cathedral. Bishop A. James Quinn of Cleveland delivered the Homily. Bishop Murphy died April 3rd. He was 91-years old. Murphy served as Erie`s Catholic bishop from 1982 until his retirement in July 1990. He recently celebrated 65 years as a priest. He will be buried alongside his family in Cleveland.
