Studded Tire Sunday

Winter TiresMore winter weather could be heading our way, but rain, snow or shine, you must have your studded tires removed from your vehicle by Sunday. So the question now; Will police consider the weather and be a bit more lenient when enforcing this state law? By Sunday, all studded tires are supposed to be off the roads, and this is the time of the year that it should be safe for you to do so. Studs tear up the roads, and as street crews begin their yearly repair work they don't want the studs causing any unnecessary damage. Yes, we are into the middle of April - but we can expect a heavy wet overspread of snow beginning Saturday night and could last into Monday. In Erie, it may mix with rain and pile up a few inches, but further east you could perhaps see up to a foot of snow. Regardless of the weather, the law is the law and law enforcement says it's up to the discretion of the officer whether to write up a citation or issue a warning.
