The first Saturday after April 11th may not mean much to some of you, but for thousands of fishing enthusiasts, trout season has begun! Some are hooked on trout fishing as a sport or a favorite past time, but it has become a family affair for others. The highly anticipated trout season began Saturday at 8:00am sharp, and it couldn't come a minute too soon. Volunteers spent much of Friday stocking local streams and creeks with trout. In all there were about 10,000 released in Erie County. It's a time of year thousands of anglers look forward to. Officials from the Fish and Boat Commission say anglers should be pleased with the size of the trout this season. You are, however, limited to keeping 5 fish. All others must be thrown back. Trout season lasts until labor day.
