State legislation aimed at protecting pets is facing strong opposition from pet groomers. House Bill 2194 would require groomers to get licenses for bathing and brushing, basic grooming, or master grooming. State Representative Linda Bebko-Jones says she`s heard horror stories from people who say their pets were hurt or gouged by pet groomers. The licenses would cost $100 every two years, but groomers would need to take classes first. Brenda Colson of Dog House Pet Grooming says the closest school is in Pittsburgh.
