watch video
If you use the New York State Thruway in Chautauqua County, New York youre being called a trespasser as of Wednesday night. The Seneca Indian Nation Council has voted to take back the land that carries the thruway through the reservation. Almost ten years ago to the day Senecas clashed with New York state troopers on I-90. The nation has informed Governor Eliot Spitzer that "continued use of the thruway without nation permission is an act of trespass." This sets up another confrontation in a long tax battle between the Senecas and New York state. The governors office released a statement saying only "the senecas sued over this matter in 1999 and lost."
