The Wattsburg Education Association is threatening to strike. In a news release Tuesday morning, The Education Association said if an agreement is not reached prior to May 16, Wattsburg teachers will hit the picket lines. The school board and Education Association failed once again to come to terms on a new contract Monday night. The meeting lasted over four hours with the end result being the same as before. The school board once again denied the Wattsburg Education Association's proposal. The Education Association is basing their proposal off of a fact finders report that the school board has rejected twice already. Salary increases and Health Care are the main issues at stake. No further talks are scheduled at this time. The teachers have been without a contract since June of last year. If the teachers do strike, graduation could be pushed back until mid-June. PSEA Representative, Marcus Schlegel stopped by our studios at noon to discuss the issues on the table and the possibility of the strike.
