Lawsuit Served Against County Council

watch video
The seven members of Erie County Council were slapped with a lawsuit Tuesday. Daniel T. Galena, of East Springfield, has filed a federal civil rights suit. Galena, who is running against incumbent Carol Loll in the May 15th primary, says the members have violated the county's administrative code and the state's Sunshine Law. He also alleges that his free speech rights were violated when he was removed from a council meeting on March 20th. County Council Chairman Fiore Leone forced Galena to leave the meeting after speaking out during a vote. Galena says the legal action isn't to gain popularity, but to let the public know the council needs members who will follow the law.
