Target 24: Changing Downtown Part1
These 7 three story townhouses are the first phase of the 140 home project hoping to change the face of downtown Erie housing.
While none are sold before they are built, the company heading the project Fourth River Development LLC out of PIttsburgh already has a tenant moving into the retail space.
The Erie Redevelopment Authority says there is a huge interest for living permanently downtown...but up until the Mercantile building became a choice there weren't many options.
There were 1,300 residential units in downtown Erie but only 13 were owner occupied.
"It really doesn't have a track record up until the point the mercantile building was rehabbed. There really wasn't any where there was market rate home ownership in downtown Erie," Director of Community/Economic Development said.
