Mayor Sinnott and Jon Whaley Part Ways

watch video
After a discussion Tuesday morning it was decided that Jon Whaley will no longer be holding that position.

Our Kim Thomas spoke with Mayor Sinnott Wednesday afternoon. He says this was a joint decision made amicably between himself and his now former assistant.

Jon Whaley began his job as the Mayor's assistant in 2006 when Sinnott took office. Sinnott said that after several discussions, they've decided it would be best for the both of them to part ways Sinnott says he's very appreciative of everything Whaley has done.

He says Whaley was a big part of the accomplishment made during Sinnott's first year during office. One of those major accomplishments was last summer's celebrate Erie in which Whaley, as the organizer, played an integral part in its success. Sinnott says he thinks Whaley feels largely the same way he does regarding this situation.

Mayor Sinnott says he wishes Whaley the best and knows he will be successful at whatever he chooses to do next.
