The historic Vernon twp building has been demolished after a blazing fire on February 5th tore apart the building and left the community in despair.
The building is a well known icon in Crawford County because of the fact that it was build in the 1800s.
After a fire left the building with no hopes of restoration, officials made the decision to demolish what was left because parts of the building were crumbling into the streets.

Joyce Spontarelli owned the building for the past 26 years, as the sides of the building crumbled, so did Joyce's hope of what could have been for the building she tells us this building was her life.
And for Bill Winters, it's also personal.
His great uncle owned the building in the early 1900s, it's been in his family for years and he's sad to see it go.

My grandfather owned this building and I lived in one of the apartments when I was a teenager. I didn't realize what an icon it was at that time.
