Gas Prices Rising
Motorists are cringing as gasoline prices surge to an all-time high.
The cost of gas has risen to a record average of $3.07 per gallon nationally. According to AAA, the average in Erie is $2.94 and at some stations are even higher. These numbers are around twenty cents more than two weeks ago.
Oil industry analysts are pointing to refinery shutdowns that have cut refining capacity and gas supply.
Unexpected shutdowns have been the result of rundown and obsolete facilities. This all comes as the summer driving season begins when demand goes up and gas supply should be on the rise.
We called around to some local stations. Here are some of the prices you can expect in our area .
In Erie, a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.89 at the Country Fair on West 8th Street. It's also $2.89 at the Sheetz on West Ridge Road.
At Kwik Fill on 949 N. Center Street in Corry the price is a little higher at $2.93 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
It's also $2.93 a gallon at the Country Fair on 9030 Main Street in McKean.
