Bush Speaks at St. Vincent College Inspires Protests

 President Bush gave his first commencement speech in the state of Pennsylvania Friday... It happened at Saint Vincent college in Latrobe. Some students from Erie were in the graduating class. Joel Marz is an alumnus of Cathedral Prep. Kevin Zaffino is an alumnus of Collegiate Academy. Both say it was a momentous occasion. Several Erie residents traveled to Latrobe Friday to protest the commencement speech by President Bush. Eight of the Benedictine sisters from Erie joined with others to the oppose the Presidents appearance at Saint Vincent college. They say they support the college, but dont think president bush stands for Benedictine ideals. The schools president Jim Towey once headed the white houses office of faith-based initiatives. He says he knew the speech would generate controversy but thinks its a great opportunity for his students.
