Coyote Shot on West Side

An unexpected and unusual visitor showed up at a west side Erie business Tuesday, but was not allowed to walk away. Jerry Covington found a coyote lurking behind his store. Covington says the animal was initially trapped underneath the axel of a truck in the back yard, but after escaping it ran under a fence attempting to hide. Covington was unable to reach anyone at erie`s animal control office... and tonight the coyote was shot by Erie police, who told us they believed the animal was rabid. However, game commission officer Larry Smith says he was never called and there was no way to make a determination about the animal`s health.
