The Wait Continues for Conneaut Lake Park

watch video
The deadline has come.... and gone. Conneaut Lake Park officials were expected to announce Monday morning whether they'll be opening the park for the Doo-Wop Weekend.  Now, a last minute call from an interested businessman has pushed that decision back another 24-hours.

The waiting game will continue for management and employees at Conneaut Lake Park as well as vacationers still wondering what they can expect this Memorial Day weekend. Park officials set Monday at 11:00am as the final deadline for making that ultimate decision... will the park open or not?? Officials were waiting on word about possible funding from the county, but that plan has fallen through.

Then, just as officials were preparing for the worst, a call came in around 11:15am from a private businessman interested in helping out the park.

In order to open this weekend, Conneaut Lake Park must come up with $30,000 on top of the $20,000 they already have.

While everyone is on edge waiting for the final decision, CLP officials say they would rather wait another day instead of closing, knowing this potential gift is out there.

LeRoy Stearns, the park's court appointed custodian, couldn't release the name of the private businessman.  However, he says he's worked with this person before and believes something positive could happen by Tuesday.
