Harborcreek Twp Employees Part Of Emergency Response Team

watch video
When a fire or emergency call is reported in Harborcreek Township, a new program helps insure there will be no shortage of volunteers answering the call. The program is called the Harborcreek Township Emergency Response Team.

In the past few years, the number of volunteer firefighters has been dwindling, due in part to people taking on two or three jobs, or family obligations. The Emergency Response Team helps with that problem. There are 7 employees that work out of the Harborcreek Township building that have been trained to answer emergency and fire calls.

These employees include the township receptionist, two supervisors, a parts manager and township Operations Manager.  The team has been set up in conjunction with the township's fire departments to supplement manpower during the day. If there are not enough volunteers to answer 9-1-1 calls, the dispatch center will call upon the employees to fill the gap.

The employees all have turnout gear near their desks and are out the door in a matter of minutes when called upon.

All the township employees have gone through  a 40 hour first responder course along with emergency vehicle training.
The Emergency Response Team is modeled after Millcreek Townships Emergency Response Team.
