Allegheny River Clean-up Begins Saturday

9/14/12: For the 4th year, 500 volunteers are expected to take part in the annual Allegheny River Clean-up that begins Saturday and continues through September 22nd.

On Saturday, volunteers will begin cleaning 12 miles of Brokenstraw and Conawango Creeks. Then on Monday, the focus will turn to 38 miles of the Allegheny River from Tidioute to Kinzua Dam.

  Last year volunteers pulled more than 12 thousand pounds of metal from the river along with bags of glass, plastic and hundreds of old tires.
