Gun Expert Says Gun Education Is Important
September
20, 2012--The
death of Marshall Curl is a sad reminder that gun safety is very important.
Bob McDowell of bobs gun shop in McKean
says there are two important things to remember: keep your finger off the
trigger until sights are on the target and never point the gun at anything you
don't intend to destroy.
Stressing the importance of
education, the shop offers classes to help gun owners stay safe.
When it
comes to the case of Marshall Curl and John Schlick, the man allegedly
responsible, McDowell says he personally wouldn't qualify the shooting as an
accident.
McDowell
says considering that Schlick admitted to drinking alcohol prior to the
shooting he feels it was a series of actions that were not well thought out.
It's
unclear whether alcohol is being investigated as a factor in Curl's shooting
death.
Our expert does say it's a terrible idea to drink and then pick up a gun.
