Deadly Accident in Girard

According to State Police in Girard, 69 year old Melvin Huyck of West Springfield, was stopped in the roadway on Route 20 just west of Route 215, then was rear ended by another vehicle.

Huyck's vehicle traveled down an embankment and into a field where it overturned.

Huyck was partially ejected from his pick-up, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the other driver has not been released, and police suspect the crash to be DUI related.

The investigation is ongoing.
