Chimney Fire Causes Smoky Problem

watch video
9/23/12 -It's that time of year when people will be lighting their fireplace. Have you had your chimney checked?

Several volunteer fire companies were called to a home along Mineo Drive in Millcreek around 6:30 Sunday night.

The homeowner decided to take the chill off by lighting a fire but  smoke backed up into the house. Quick work by firefighters kept damage to a minimum.

If you do have a fireplace, get your chimney checked out. Soot buildup can cause a smoky problem and in some cases even more if that soot catches firer and spreads to the structure
