Tent City Residents Move Out

watch video

October 10, 2012 - Today is the deadline for residents of tent city to pack up and move out.

People who lived at tent city tell us that most of the people have already left the area at the foot of Chestnut and 14th Streets.

There were only a few people there today who said they were packing up and planning to be gone by the end of the day.

Local organizations are working to help these people find a place to live.

"Some folks have some apartments and I'm trying to help them move that process along with GECAC," said Diana Ames, PA Coalition to End Homlessness.  "In addition, a couple have gotten jobs so that's a plus, but we still have a group who have no place to go."

The deadline was given to residents of tent city to move out by CSX who owns the property.
