watch video

October 10, 2012--Effective this morning imprisoned Erie County Councilman Ebert Beeman is no longer receiving pay for holding office.

Erie County Executive Barry Grossman ordered the cease and desist and says it's an insult to taxpayers to continue to pay Beeman a salary.

Each year Beeman makes $8779. 18 cents and is paid biweekly in installments of $337.68

Grossman says since Beeman who is in federal prison for social security fraud and unable to participate fully as a councilman he thinks this is the right action to take.

A judge has yet to rule on whether or not Beeman will be kicked off council.

We spoke with Beeman's attorney Jeffrey Del Fuoco who is looking into the salary matter.

Grossman says if Beeman is exonerated of all charges he will be reimbursed by the County.

Comments

OK, they can STOP his paychecks, but he might STILL be on Council??? Something is VERY fishy here...this guy defrauded the Government and is STILL on a Council Seat??? Exonerated of all charges??? They SHOULD file MORE charges against this guy for ALL of the things he did AGAINST the Law!!! Just who is he paying to get out of all of this anyway?? If you or I or anyone else did the things this guy did, we'd be in jail for the rest of our lives!!!
