Man Rides His Horse From Illinois To New York

watch video
10-18-12  It's not the mode of transportation you would expect to see traveling along busy Route 5, a man riding a horse with his pack mule and dog.

39 year old Bryan Brant is riding about 15 hundred miles from Illinois to Upstate New York, every mile on his horse Abby Road.
His pack mule named Sergeant Major Jack Houdini carries all the supplies and his dog Pepper leads the way.

Brant's family is Native American and he is riding to a Mohawk Indian reservation near Messina New York to meet family members he has not met before.

This isn't Brants first journey through the United States. In 2008 he and his wife walked from San Francisco to Washington DC with 45 hundred Native Americans.
That walk was to  to draw attention to the state of the environment and press for the protection of sacred Native American sites.
